A scouting expédition

In preparation for a series of upcoming expeditions, Naturevolution has conducted various explorations in recent years, most recently in early 2023 near the still unexplored karst of Tangkelemboke and upstream of the Lasolo River.

This franco-indonesian spotting mission led by Evrard Wendenbaum and 4 teammates from 13 February to 1 March 2023 lasted 17 days and allowed them to cover 255 km on foot and packraft in a demanding environment.

But beyond the physical performance, the mission’s main purpose was to ensure that it was possible to reach the various study sites previously identified on the satellite images, to identify more suitable ones that the forest cover had protected from the view of the satellites, and to specify the logistics that would have to be implemented in order to bring tens of people and tons of equipment there in order to carry out the planned research in the best possible conditions.

Mission accomplished !
